Agricultural activity being limited to a very short rain season, most farmers migrate much of the year to other regions: the North of the country to the coffee harvest, or East for growing beans. But in recent years, most migrate to Costa Rica, its plantations of sugar cane, bananas, palms, etc.

Farmers themselves have to emigrate with all their animals in search of greener pastures, occupying the width of roads at certain times of the year.
