Solentiname Archipelago Nicaragua

South of Lake Nicaragua are two important and complementary protected areas:

  1. The Wildlife Refuge The Guatusos; which is the preferred destination for all nature lovers, hunters image, biologists and ecologists, especially for bird watching. It is a strip of land wetlands, swamps and tropical forest, lakefront home to 401 species of birds about 644 known in the country (or 62%), 45 species of migratory birds like the Spatula magnificent Rosada (Ajaia Ajaja) and other aquatic species endangered (as the jabiru Mycteria), 2 species of crocodiles, 3 species of monkeys and dozens of other wild mammals.

It is the first Ramsar site of Nicaragua (international convention on the protection of wetlands of international importance for the conservation of birds in particular).

  2. Solentiname Archipelago NicaraguaSolentiname archipelago to the contemplative, primitive art lovers and nature: among which 36 islands are uninhabited but some extravagant bird colonies. It is grown, as in other regions, but fishing and crafts are important activities.

Many people who have become painters and sculptors have developed a school of primitive art, revolutionary and mystical inspiration, translating into their environment a heavenly vision. We can see the desire of these artists, to convey peace, in search of a better world.
